Linux & Unix (SSH)
On Linux and Unix servers, accounts and groups often live locally, outside any central directory. As part of an integration project, Nova manages these local accounts and group memberships over SSH, including on appliances that offer no other management interface.
What the Linux & Unix (SSH) project integration covers
- Creates local user accounts on your Linux and Unix servers and removes them when they are no longer needed
- Manages the group memberships that control access on these systems
- Locks accounts on departure or status changes, with no need to log in to each server by hand
- Lists local groups in the entitlement catalog so they can be requested and recertified
- Reaches appliances and legacy systems whose only management interface is SSH
- Records every change it performs for audit purposes
Technical integration
The connector connects over SSH using a dedicated service account on the target systems, typically authenticating with key pairs. It is built on Nova's connector SDK and tailored to your server landscape during the project.
In the identity lifecycle
Unix accounts follow the person's lifecycle: created at joining, group memberships adjusted on internal moves, locked at departure. Groups on these systems can be requested and recertified like any other entitlement.
